Fine Arts - Instrumental Music
Ross Local Schools offers many opportunities for our students interested in instrumental music. Students begin band in 6th grade and have a choice of instruments to learn. Ross Middle School has a 7th grade and an 8th grade band led by director- Mr. Andrew Morelock. Students further their skills on their instruments and color instruments are added during the later junior high years.
Ross High School has a concert band and marching band program that involves band students in grades 9 through 12. These bands are led by director - Mr. Richard Roemer.
Both the Junior High and High Schools offer Jazz Band as an after school extension to regular concert band study.
Both Junior High and High Schools compete in the Ohio Music Education Association Solo and Ensemble Contests each year.
The Ross High School "Band of Class" Marching Band is a highly competitive marching ensemble that involves students on band instruments, student drum majors, and students on color guard. The Ross Marching Band has been to the Ohio State Marching finals each year consecutively since 1985.
Ross Band students also have to opportunity to play in the Pep Band for scheduled athletic events.
Select Band students participate in our orchestra pit performing music for the annual spring musical.
Both Junior High and High School students are able to audition for the OMEA District 13 Honor Band program. Ross has a long history of students being selected for these prestigious groups.
